These are the first western artists to visit Iraqi-Kurdistan officially since the 1st Gulf war in 1991. Anne Bean, Richard Wilson, Clare Charnley from the UK with Susan Meiselas and Nancy Buchanan from the US have taken part in ArtRole projects which include talks, presentations, workshops, trips and making artwork. This has been done in collaboration with universities, galleries, art organizations and art agencies in the United Kingdom, United States and Iraq. ArtRole members also took part in this visit: Mark Terry, Justine Blau, Rob Gawthrop and Anna Bowman.
